Procedures: Time Steps/Activities Organization 5’ Warm-up • Teacher – Sing “Days of The Week” song whole class (source: The Singing Walrus – English Songs For Kids 1 | P a g e
- Option 1: • Teacher – "Pretend" game Whole class/ Teacher writes out actions and put them in a bag. (count groupwork numbers, draw pictures, spell words, sing songs, pick up a pen, pick up a ruler) Divide the class into four teams. Have one student come to the front of the class and choose an action from the bag. Have that student do an action silently. Have the other students try to guess the action. Give the first team to guess the action correctly one point. The team that gets the most points wins. Option 2: • Teacher – "Whispering" game Whole class/ Divide the class into four teams. groupwork Have students from each team stand or sit in a row. Whisper a sentence/a command to the first students in each row. Have the first students whisper the sentence/command to the second students. Have teams continue whispering the sentence/command until it reaches the last students. The last student in the row has to say out the sentence/command. Give the first team to say the sentence/command correctly one point. The team that gets the most points wins. New lesson 2 | P a g e

(CD2 - Track 66) • Teacher – Have students look at the pictures and call out the days Whole class/ they can see. individuals Play audio and demonstrate the activity using the example. Play audio. Have students listen and circle A or B. Play audio again and check answers as a whole class. B. Play "Board race." • Teacher – Have students look at the example. Whole class/ Divide the class into teams and have one student from groupwork each team stand a distance from the board. Stick two flashcards on the board and then say one of them. Have the students race to the board, touch that flashcard, and say the correct sentence. The first student to touch the flashcard and say the sentence gets a point for their team. Continue with other students. "Body writing" game • Teacher – Divide the class into four teams. Whole class/ Ask a student from one team to leave the classroom. groupwork Give his or her team a flashcard (E.g. Monday) and have them form the words with their bodies, using one letter per student. Have the student who left the room return. The teacher asks, “What day is it today?” Have the students try to read the word that his or her team is forming then answer. Give that team one point if it’s a correct guess. Continue with the other teams. The team that gets the most points wins. 3 | P a g e

Play audio. Have students listen and circle the correct words. Have students listen again and check the answers. Check understanding and give the correct answers to the students. 5’ Wrap up Option 1: • Teacher – My calendar Whole class/ Give each student a sheet of paper. individuals/ Have students write their favorite month, write the days, pair work numbers and decorate it to make their own calendar. Have students draw something at their important days. E.g. birthday Have students work in pairs and tell their friends about 4 | P a g e
- their calendars. E.g. This is my favorite month. And my birthday is on Monday. Option 2: • Teacher – Speed Game Whole class/ Have students work in pairs. pair work Give one set days of the week cards to each pair of students. Ask students to place the cards face down on their desk and mix them up. Have one pair make an example. • Student 1 asks, ‘What day is it today?’ • Student 2 answers any day of the week. • Student 1 turns over the cards and try to find that card as fast as possible.
