Procedures: Time Steps/Activities Organization 5’ Warm-up • Teacher – Sing “Clothing Song For Kids” whole class (Source: Dream English Kids 1 | P a g e
- Option 1: • Teacher – Pointless Whole class/ Put children in groups of four and ask them to sit in a circle groupwork with the group. Each child has one of the sounds /ks/, /j/. Each child starts with three points. The first child says the sound that belongs to one of the other children. This child must then say another child’s sound, and so on. If a child does not respond to hearing their sound in two seconds, responds to another child’s sound, says their own sound, or says the sound of the person who called them, they lose a point. Once a child has lost all three of their points, they are out. Option 2: • Teacher – Spelling race Whole class/ Divide the class into groups and give each student a letter groupwork card. Say a word. Children race to spell the word, using the letter cards. Give one point to each group that spells the word correctly. Continue until all the words have been used. New lesson 25’ A. Listen and ( √ ) the box. (CD2 - Track 40) • Teacher – Have students look at the pictures and call out the clothes Whole class/ they can see. individuals Play audio and demonstrate the activity using the example. Play audio. Have students take turns saying the sentences as they go all the way around "Flashcard walk" game • Teacher – Divide the class into four teams. Whole class/ Place several flashcards on the classroom floor. groupwork Have students from each team come up the front. Play some music and have the students walk around the flashcards. Stop the music and say a sentence. Have the students pick up the corresponding flashcard and repeat a sentence. The first student who pick the correct flashcard and repeat correctly gets one point for his/her team. The team that gets the most points wins. Workbook page 54 A. Check understanding as a whole class. 5’ Wrap up Option 1 • Teacher – “Vanishing Flashcards” game Whole class/ Divide the class into four teams. groupwork Place flashcards in front of the students. Give them a moment to memorize the pictures and then tell them to close their eyes. Take away one of the flashcards and then tell the students to open their eyes again. The first student who guesses the missing flashcard correctly then says a sentence with the corresponding word can win that flashcard. (E.g. This is my shirt.) The team has the most flashcards wins. Option 2 • Teacher – “Whisper” game Whole class/ Arrange children into rows of at least six. groupwork Secretly show a flashcard to the first child in each group. This child whispers a sentence with the given word to the child next to him/her. Children continue whispering the sentence to the child next to them until the word reaches the final child. The final child runs to the board then writes down the 4 | P a g e
- sentence, and the first child holds up the flashcard to see whether the sentence is appropriate. 5 | P a g e
