- Tiếng Anh 2 i-Learn Smart Start Week: Date of teaching: Period: 1 THEME 9: CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES Lesson 2 I. Objectives: After completing this lesson, students will be able to: 1. Language competence Identify the letter - “Z” and correctly pronounce the sound of its – “/z/” in the following vocabulary Letters: Zz Vocabulary: Zebra, zoo 2. Core competence - Build up interests and good habits in learning English - Build up responsive and independent-working characteristics to be a long-life learner - Be supportive and collaborative in team work - Demonstrate problem-solving and communicative skills through learning activities 3. Personal qualities - Build up respective attitudes to others in the community - Build up spirits of the responsibility for family and the community II. Teaching aids: Teacher’s aids: student book and teacher’s book, class CDs, flashcards, IWB software, projector/interactive whiteboard/TV. - III. Procedures: Time Steps/Activities Organization 5’ Warm-up • Teacher – Alphabet Wave Whole class Divide the a-z flashcards among all your students. Put students in a line and play the ABC song. As it plays each student must hold up their corresponding alphabet flashcard. Option 1: • Teacher – “Mystery Object” game Whole class/ Divide the class into four teams. groupwork Put some objects inside a bag. Invite one student from each team to come to the board and have them close their eyes. Say a command (E.g. Pick up your (ruler).) and have the students try to take one object from the bag. The first student who picks up the correct object will get one point for his/her team. Option 2: • Teacher – Run, Draw and Roll Whole class/ Arrange the class into four lines. groupwork Secretly show a flashcard to the first child in each line. This child runs to the board and draw the object. The last child in the line tries to guess and picks the requested object then says a sentence. (E.g. Pick up your (ruler).) The fastest student to pick the correct object rolls the die then get the corresponding point. 25’ New lesson • Teacher – Sing the song “Learn The Letter Z” Whole class 2 | P a g e

Whole class/ Demonstrate tracing the letters with your finger. individuals Have students trace the letters with their fingers. Have some students demonstrate the activity in front of the class. 2. Listen and repeat. Write. (CD2 - Track 47) • Teacher – Have students look at the pictures. Whole class/ Demonstrate the activity. individuals Play audio. Have students point to the letter as they hear it. Play audio again. Have students listen and repeat. Have students trace and write the letters. Have some students demonstrate the activity in front of the class. 3. Sing. (CD2 - Track 48) • Teacher – Play audio and have students listen. Whole class Have students look at the lyrics. Read the lyrics and do actions following them. Play audio and have students listen, sing along, and do the actions. Have students make a new verse with the word "zoo" and sing along the same melody as the first one. 4. Listen and jump. (CD2 - Track 49) • Teacher – Demonstrate the activity. Whole class Have students stand up. Have students jump when they hear the letter sound. Workbook page 58 • Teacher – 3 | P a g e
- Have students open their workbooks – page 58 Whole class/ A. Trace the letters. individuals Have students look at part A and read the instruction. Set up time limit by 2 minutes timer (source: Have students start tracing the letters. When the time ends by explosion students stop their work. Check understanding as a whole class. B. Look, write, and draw lines. Have students look at the pictures and the words with missing letters and try to complete these. Correct mistakes as a whole class. Have students draw lines from the pictures to the correct words. Check students’ answers as a whole class. 5’ Wrap up Option 1: • Teacher – “Magic finger”. Whole class/ Divide the class into pairs. pair work Have Student A write a letter or a word with their finger on Student B’s back. Have Student B try to guess what the letter or the word is. Have students swap roles and repeat. Option 2: • Teacher – “Musical dictation” game Whole class/ Divide the class into four teams. groupwork Have each team take out a pencil and a piece of paper. Play music and have teams pass their pencils from one student to the next within the group. When the music stops, the teacher picks up one flashcard. 4 | P a g e
- The students who have just received the pencils write down on their paper the words. Give the first team to write the word correctly one point. The team that gets the most points wins. 5 | P a g e
