  1. Tiếng Anh 2 i-Learn Smart Start Week: Date of teaching: Period: 2 THEME 9: CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES Lesson 2 I. Objectives: After completing this lesson, students will be able to: 1. Language competence Identify the letter - “Z” and correctly pronounce the sound of its – “/z/” in the following vocabulary Letters: Zz Vocabulary: Zebra, zoo 2. Core competence - Build up interests and good habits in learning English - Build up responsive and independent-working characteristics to be a long-life learner - Be supportive and collaborative in team work - Demonstrate problem-solving and communicative skills through learning activities 3. Teaching aids: Teacher’s aids: student book and teacher’s book, class CDs, flashcards, IWB software, projector/interactive whiteboard/TV. Students’ aids: Student books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Time Steps/Activities Organization 5’ Warm-up • Teacher – Alphabet Line-up Whole class  Give each students an alphabet flashcard.  Play the Alphabet song and have the students skip around in a circle, singing along to the song.  Stop music at random points and the students have to line up in the correct alphabetical order according to their cards. Option 1: • Teacher – "Read my lips" game Whole class/  Divide the class into teams. groupwork  Teacher says a word silently.  Have the students try to guess what the teacher said.  Give the forst team one point if it’s a correct guess.  The team that gets the most points wins. Option 2: • Teacher – "Touch" game Whole class/  Divide the class into four teams. groupwork  Have one student from each team stand a distance from the board.  Stick some flashcards on the board.  Then the teacher says a letter or a word. (E.g. Please touch letter “Z” three times!)  Have the students race to the board, touch that flashcard, and say the correct word.  The first student to touch the flashcard and say the word gets a point for their team.  Continue with other students. 25’ New lesson 2 | P a g e
  3. 5. Listen and repeat. (CD2 - Track 50) • Teacher –  Have students look at the pictures. Whole class/  Point to the pictures and say the letters' sounds. individuals  Play audio. Have students listen and repeat the letter sounds 6. Listen and point. (CD2 - Track 51) • Teacher –  Have students look at the pictures. Whole class/  Demonstrate pointing to the correct letter when you hear individuals the sound or word.  Play audio. Have students point to the correct picture at the top of the page when they hear the appropriate sound or word. 7. Put a ( √ ) or a ( x ). • Teacher –  Have students look at the pictures and call out the words. Whole class/  Demonstrate the activity using the example. individuals  Have students put a tick or a cross.  Check answers as a whole class. 8. Play "Stepping stones." • Teacher –  Divide the class into pairs. Whole class/  Have Student A start at A and say the first letter sound or pair work word.  Have Student B start at B and say the first letter sound or word.  Have students take turns saying the letter sounds or words as they go all the way around. Workbook page 59 • Teacher –  Have students open their workbooks – page 59 Whole class/ C.   4.  Play audio. Have students listen and circle the correct pictures.  Have students listen again and check the answers.  Check understanding and give the correct answers to the students. D. Look and write. • Teacher –  Explain the activity. Whole class/  Set up time limit by 1minute timer bomb (source: pair work  Have students start writing the words. When the time ends by explosion students stop doing their exercises.  Have students change their workbooks together.  Check understanding as a whole class. 5’ Wrap up Option 1: • Teacher – “Alphabet Soup” game Whole class/  Divide the class into small groups. groupwork/  Have each group work in pairs. pair work  Give each group a bowl that has a set of letters in it and a blank sheet of paper.  Divide flashcards by their beginning letters and put them next to the bowls.  Have two students from one group go to the board to make an example. One student picks up a letter from a bowl and write it on the board, the other student finds the flashcards associated with that letter.  Have students continue the game as the same way. Option 2: • Teacher – “Jump” game Whole class/  Divide the class into four teams. groupwork 4 | P a g e
  5.  Have one student from each team stand a distance from the board.  Draw three circles on the floor. Each circle has a letter. (E.g. Vv, Ww or Zz)  Call out one word (E.g. zebra).  The students try to jump into the circle with the corresponding letter then say “/zed/ Z is for zebra.”.  The winner is the student who jumps into the correct letter circle first. 5 | P a g e
