- Tiếng Anh 2 i-Learn Smart Start Week: Date of teaching: Period: 2 THEME 9: CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES Lesson 3 I. Objectives: After completing this lesson, students will be able to: 1. Where are you from? I'm from (Hanoi). 2. Procedures: Time Steps/Activities Organization 5’ Sing the “Action song” • Teacher – (source: The Singing Walrus – English Songs for Kids whole class Option 1: • Teacher – "Flashcard walk" game Whole class/ Divide the class into four teams. groupwork Place flashcards (count numbers, draw pictures, spell words, sing songs) on the floor. Have students from each team come up the front. Play some music and have the students walk around the flashcards. Stop the music and say an action. Have the students pick up the correct flashcard then run to the board and write down (E.g. I can (draw pictures).). Give the first team to pick up the flashcard and write the correct sentence one point. The team that gets the most points wins. Option 2: • Teacher – "Train race" game Whole class/ Divide the class into 4 teams and ask the students to stand groupwork in 4 lines, about 1 meter away from the board. Show the first child in each group a flashcard. This child performs an action and says a sentence with the corresponding action. Then his/her team says "choo,choo" and moves towards the board one step. Have children continue to imitate the actions and say the sentences until the actions come to the last students. 2 | P a g e

Point, ask, and answer. • Teacher – Have students look at the pictures, read places they see. Whole class/ Ask the students if they know these places or show them pair work these places on Vietnamese map. Divide the class into pairs. Have Student A point to a picture and ask, have Student B answer. Swap roles and repeat. Afterwards, have some pairs demonstrate the activity in front of the class. - on the board. Play music and encourage students to dance or walk around. Stop music suddenly. When music stops, each student finds a partner. Have the students use the given words to make their own dialogue. • Student A: Where are you from? • Student B: I’m from (Ho Chi Minh City). Have students swap roles. Play the music and continue in this way. Option 2: • Teacher – “Spin the wheel” game Whole class/ Have students work in pairs. pair work Give each pair a wheel like this. Ho Chi Hai Minh City Phong Nha Trang Hanoi Da Hue Nang Student 1 spins the wheel and asks student 2, “Where are you from?”. Student 2 answers, “I’m from .” Swap roles.
